TOMORROW’S LEADERS INITIATIVE

Building leaders from our community for our community

As a Non-Profit with the mission of youth success at heart the Association is working on expanding the horizon of impact that we can have on our youth through the new expansion to the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program. This program is developed with the focus of engaging our youth with the systems and initiatives that can boost their educational and economic achievement and overall development of success through meaningful lives.

The Initiative has focus in the following areas:

  1. COLLEGE ENGAGEMENT ⟶
  2. SCHOLARSHIP ⟶
    CAREER CONNECTIONS ⟶
  1.

COLLEGE ENGAGEMENT

In order to help provide our youth with the tools they need to succeed, part of the Tomorrow’s Leaders mission is to get kids engaged with their potential College options. We plan to promote this initiative through CUNY & SUNY events, college tours and informationals.

This is done in order to increase student knowledge and awareness of various options of higher education and to broaden the perspective and horizons of high schoolers in this State.

These forms of College Engagement not only broaden students' perspectives, but also raises their chances of attending a secondary school through making meaningful connections with these universities and students.

SCHOLARSHIP

Obtaining a Secondary Education is key to opening the door to start a legacy of wealth and economic development.

The Association remains committed to ensuring that higher education is

available to all New Yorkers. Under the Leadership of Chairwoman Latrice Walker, the Association paid out more than $70,000 to students attending colleges across New York State who met the Association's criteria for scholarship awards by the end of its 2020 fiscal year.

These qualified students were selected based on a combination of merit, financial need and community involvement.

During our 49th Annual in-person Scholarship Gala, we were able to recognize these hardworking students through the Scholarship Recipient portion of the Gala. In which students are introduced and able to receive their Scholarship- checks on stage. This continues to be a vital segment of past and future Scholarship Gala Dinners.

CAREER CONNECTIONS

This portion of the program is to allow our students to build upon their connections, interest involvement and potential career paths. We aim to do this by connecting youth that are accepted in this program with potential career opportunities or with individuals within their career field of choice.

This allows for youth to get one step closer to their goal through the advantage of our program opening doors for them that they would not be able to access without connections. Connecting youth with people in their career field allows them to explore their potential career options such as potential internships or employment opportunities, as well as allows them to form their own network for useful career advice.
